Project SL-A - cycling for Ghana's orphans and those in need. The idea of doing something for a good cause has always been at the forefront of our minds. Making this a reality not only gives us peace of mind but also gives us an experience that we respect and appreciate very much. We are cycling enthusiast and cover weekly distances ranging from 40 to 100 miles, to work and back. We take part in various charity rides throughout out England. London to Windsor, the shortest (40 miles) and London to Birmingham, the longest (130 miles). We also do some riding in the US and Ghana with similar distances. These rides involves the use of a lot of energy used, which disappears into thin air.

Our goal is to turn the energy we use in covering these distances into something concrete by raising funds for orphans and those in need in Ghana. Using cycling as a means to realize our goal not only satisfies us but gives us an outcome that can be accounted for. See our news page mileage covered.

Project SL-A is a UK registered company acting under The Companies Act 1985 to 1989.

This is an on going fundraising set-up that allows you to make donations and contributions to orphans and those in need in the country of Ghana. Our main goal is to know and understand the exact needs of the orphans. Knowing these needs allows us to channel funds in the specific directions. Some of these needs are as basic as food, clothing, housing, education etc. We want to see real and positive changes in the lives of the people we work for.

Ghana has many orphans. Research has shown that they sometimes are children of teenage mothers who could not face the task of bringing up kids. Often, the mother has died or the child had to be abandoned due to abject poverty, and the father can't or does not want to look after the children.

In contrast to many developed countries, Ghana's government does not have the means to take care of all the country's poor. Help for people in trouble hinges on personal initiatives. Many orphanages have been established in Ghana by churches and caring people. For their support, they rely on contributions from private persons and the dedication of their founders.

Your donations can bring hope to these children's lives by making it possible for them to have some of the basic things we take for granted.

The organization provides care to about 40 resident children by feeding, clothing, and the provision of educational materials and shelter. This is beside the over 100 children who reside outside the home.
